In recent years, foreign direct investment (FDI) has flooded into Malaysia in large amounts, promoting the country to become an important destination for high-tech investment in Southeast Asia. With the continuous increase in global demand for digital infrastructure, Malaysia‘s data center industry is experiencing a significant expansion. The key industries expected to benefit from this growth include public utilities, renewable energy, real estate and telecommunications. The Malaysian government has provided tax incentives and subsidy policies to attract high-tech investment, further promoting investment in the data center and artificial intelligence sectors.
Malaysia is emerging as a significant player in the global data center market. Its investment opportunities and growth potential in the digital infrastructure sector are attracting an increasing number of international enterprises and capital. The volume of data centers in Malaysia is constantly growing. It is expected to reach 1,390 megawatts by 2029.
Meanwhile, data center technology trends will be mainly reflected in renewable energy utilization, increasing on-site power generation, improving energy efficiency, developing energy storage technology, and exploring carbon capture and storage technologies.
